Something Pretty

Have a great weekend! We're going to a wedding further South, and I'm really looking forward to it. A mini-getaway for us!

Something Roomy: Guest Bedroom Inspiration

So, Leah, from House Obsession, just recently posted before and after pictures of her guest bedroom redo. And, I must say, it is officially the inspiration for my own guest bedroom.

I have an old chest of drawers in my guest bedroom, although right now, it really doesn't know its place in there. I guess it doesn't help that we're also storing Mr. M's tools on a shelf in one corner. That's definitely not pretty. I would love for our guest bedroom to someday look like Leah's!

Something Etsy

WARNING! Shameless self-promotion ahead!

This is my newest creation for my Etsy shop. Dear, sweet Geri from knitsandbits asked me if I could create a little wedding keepsake for her and her husband. This was the final product, and I think it turned out to be really cute.

I'm now offering it in my Etsy shop as a custom design, where everything from the color of the flowers to the frame to the wording can all be chosen by you. Check it out here!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this design, too!

Something Yummy: Strawberry Angel Cookies

So, every Thursday night we get together with some friends for either a Bible study or just to hang out. We take turns making dessert for that evening so we have something to nibble on while drinking their incredibly yummy coffee. This past week was my turn to make something, so I made all of us guinea pigs and decided to try something new. See Exhibit A below:

These cookies definitely got mixed reviews between Mr. M and me. I loved them, he wasn't too sure about them. They have a somewhat tart taste to them because of the angel food cake mix in them. I think Mr. M was expecting something a lot more sweet. I didn't mind if he didn't eat them because that just meant more for me! Unfortunately, I had to use a picture from the Smucker's website because I ate all of them before I thought about taking a picture. They did look a lot like the picture above, so no worries there.

These are super easy to make. I like recipes that don't require a whole lot of fuss!

Strawberry Angel Cookies
  • No-stick cooking spray
  • 1 (16-oz.) package angel food cake mix
  • 3/4 cup Smucker's Strawberry Sugar-Free Preserves OR 1 cup Smucker's Special Recipe Strawberry Preserves
  • 3 tablespoons semi-sweet chocolate chips (The original recipe called for mini chocolate chips, but I think the larger ones balance the sweet with the tart much better.)
Heat oven to 325 degrees F. Coat baking sheet with no-stick cooking spray.

Beat together cake mix and preserves (do not add water) at low speed of electric mixer for 1 minute or until evenly moistened. Continue to beat an additional 1 minute. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto prepared baking sheet.

Bake 10-12 minutes or until tops are just lightly browned. Cool 1 minute on baking sheet. Place on cooling rack to cool completely. Cookies will be soft and chewy. Eat them to your heart's content!

I'm in no way affiliated with Smucker's. I just really liked this recipe because it was different and doesn't induce too much guilt. Let me know what you think of the cookies if you try this recipe. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

My New Format!

I hope to stick to this new posting format! I think I'll have a lot of fun with it, and I hope you will, too.

Monday ~ Something Yummy (recipes and such)
Tuesday ~ Something Random (self-explanatory)
Wednesday ~ Something Etsy (either something from my shop or someone else's)
Thursday ~ Something Roomy (mostly design inspired)
Friday ~ Something Pretty (to leave you with for the weekend)

I'm also planning on including a brief update on the happenings of Mr. M's business, my Etsy shop, or life in general. I'm thinking that will either be a Friday thing or a random post during the weekend. It probably won't be a regular post like I hope the weekday ones will be, but we'll see what happens. I'm sure I'll also have random posts here and there, also!

I'm still not sure when I'll officially start posting again, but it should definitely be in the near future. I just want to get some ideas for posts under my belt before I start full-force.

Stay tuned!
